Maïmouna Guerresi (formerly Patrizia Guerresi) was born in Pove del Grappa (Vicenza) in 1951. She is a photographer, sculptor, video and installation artist. Her work originates from conceptual experiments inspired by the 1970s Body Art movement. In the 1980s she exhibited at the Venice Biennale and Documenta. In 1991, Maïmouna travelled to various African countries and converted to Islam, subsequently adopting the name of Maïmouna. This marked a change in identity and direction in regards to her work that started to focus on recurring themes of multicultural symbolism and feminine spirituality.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://globalarchivephotography.com/project/maimouna-guerresi/ )〕 Maïmouna Guerresi lives and works in Verona, Milan, Italy and Dakar, Senegal. == Exhibitions == 2014 * 2ème Biennale Internationale de Casablanca, Casablanca, Morocco. * 1:54, African Contemporary art Fair, M.I.A Gallery, London. * India Through the Lens, a Tasveer Foundation curated exhibition - Bahrain National Museum Bahrein, UAE. * AHKFA (hidden area) –performance – Sconfinamenti #2, curated by Achille Bonito Oliva , creative direction of Elizabeth Mambro / Franco Laera, Festival dei due mondi Spoleto 57, Rocca Albornoz, Spoleto, Italy. * M-eating, organized and curated by Alessia Montani with the collaboration of the Italian Embassy in Dakar and Marianne Ibrahim, Biennale Off -Dak’art 2014, Biscuierie, Dakar, Senegal. * Inner Constellation, Dubai Art Fair 8th edition, Tasveer Gallery, Dubai, UAE. * Doppio Sogno, exhibit large bronze sculpture “The Light Signs”, curated by Luca Beatrice & Studio Copernico, Polo Reale di Torino, Italy. * Islamic Art Festival 16° edition, Inner Costellation, Sharjah Art Museum, Sharjah, UAE. 2013 * Paris Photo, Tasveer Gallery, Grand Palais, Paris, France. * The Black Body in the West, international conference on Black Portraiture, organised by Harvard University and New York University, Musée du Quai Branly, Paris, France. * Concava, FAR Museum Contemporary Art, curated by Veronika Aguglia, Magda Gigliuto, with texts by Laura Serani and Massimo Pulini, Rimini, Italy. * Inner Space, exhibition organized and curated by Tasveer Gallery, Bangalore, India. * Inner Space, exhibition organized and curated by The Seagull Foundation for the Arts, Kolkata, curated by Tasveer Gallery, India. * Inner Space, exhibition organized and curated by Piramal Art Gallery, curated by Tasveer Gallery, Mumbai, India. * Muslima, Muslim Women’s Arts & Voices, online Museum of Women, curated by Samina Ali. * Award, Arte sostantivo Femminile, Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, organized by A3M, Rome, Italy. 2012 * Africa: See you; see me - African Influence on Contemporary Photography, National Museum, Lagos Nigeria and Goethe Institute, 10th Biennial Dak'art, Dakar, Senegal. * Paris Photo, Galleria Photo &Contemporary, Paris. * Milan Image Art Fair(MIA) Galleria Paola Colombari Milan, Italy. * Pipping Down the Valleys Wild, Stux Gallery - New York, USA. * Inner Space, Italian Institute of Design, Paldi India , exhibition organized and curated by Tasveer Gallery, India. * Inner Space, Italian Culture Center, Delhi, exhibition organized and curated by Tasveer Gallery, India. 2011 * ARS 11, curated by Jari-Pekka Vanhala, texts by Michket Krifa, Kiasma, Helsinki Museum, Finland. * Pudeurs et colères de femmes, curated by Diane Hennebert, Boghossian Foundation, Villa Empain, Brussels, Belgium. * Ri-tratti Imperfetti, curated by Patrizia Nuzzo and Paola Marini, Palazzo Forti, Verona, Italy. * Dromofestival: Muc(h)ador, curated by Cristiana Collu and Ivo Serafino Fenu, Man Museum, Nuoro, Italy. * Il Poema del Mantello, curated by Elisabetta Sassoli, organized by Paola Colombari, Palazzo Bevilacqua, Bologna, Italy. * The Giants, French Institute of Culture, Fez, Morocco. * Artissima, Galleria Photo & Contemporary, Turin, Italy * Bologna Contemporary Art fair, Galleria Photo&Contemporary, Bologna, Italy. * Within/Beyond,Borders, curated by Delphine Munro, Byzantine & Christian Museum, Athens, Greece. 2010 * The Giants Rooms, La Centrale Electrique, curated by Michket Krifa e Laura Serani, Bruxelles, Belgium. * L’Orient et L’Occident desorientès?, curated by D.
